Special Education
The programs of the Special Education department are designed to meet the entire spectrum of student needs. Programs are in place in every building and at every level in order to provide special education services for all ages; preschool through young adult. Programs and services are monitored for compliance by the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District and the Michigan Department of Education.

Sault Area School provide a variety of Special Education programs for students identified as having a disability defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).
A student can access Special Education services through the proper evaluation and placement procedures. Parent involvement in this procedure is required. More important, the school wants the parent to be an active participant. To inquire about the procedures or programs, a parent should contact the building principal.
